Menace again

Dennis is Menacing yet again, in the pages of The Beano, the comic that makes Wednesday Beano Day!

He looks more like the classic Dennis in your accompanying illustration. Has the 'cutesy' version been jettisoned?

Yes indeed, he's back to being Dennis THE MENACE.

The created for TV characters aren't gone though. Parky Bowles appears in the new BeanoMAX.

A bit late here (only just noticed this now) but I have to say I'm pleased that Dennis is officially back to being his old menacing self again - the character designs for him and Gnasher look pretty much the same as they before the revamp, which as far as I'm concerned is a very good thing.

In a strange way I think the return of some of the minor things are the most comforting, like the fifth finger on human characters, and the stripes on Gnasher's legs.

I'm thrilled to see Dennis close to his old self again—and Gnasher with stripes/shading on his legs. A little more of Rasher, who's only appeared once in a blue moon, would top things off nicely! I have no objection to the newer TV characters sticking around if they have potential; I work mostly in Disney comics, and we kept Launchpad McQuack even after other elements of DuckTales had vanished from Scrooge's and Donald's lives—so there's plenty of precedent.

My only disappointment is in the new designs for Dennis' parents: I don't mean to protest too much, but Dad's basic head shape and body construction seem to have changed along with his hairdo; for me, this makes it a bit too hard to accept him as the same character.

I'm pleased to see Dennis and Gnasher back too, I was keen for this to happen way back! Rasher has been on my drawing board recently!
Dennis's Dad does look different, that's true- The Beano had him redesigned for the TV show so we have to change him in the comic. I think he'll grow on us!
