French Light

I've had this cool-looking Jielde signal desk lamp for several years- and it's been pretty good until the last few months, when it's taken upon itself the inability to move! I can't angle it anywhere, anyhow, any time. Anything other than this angle (left) and it falls flat on it's face. Any ideas? it's a French 'design classic', you know the one I mean.

Have you tightened your nuts Nigel? Floppy lamp = loose nuts.

Or it could be the spring, but that wouldn't be as funny.

My nuts are as tight as... a nut.
It doesn't have a spring!
It's not that simple- it's a Jielde signal desk lamp, supposed to outlast you and be passed on through the generations- five years and it's broken!

Sorry Nigel. As soon as I posted that I realized you'd got a posh lamp. Mine is a cheapo one, all springs and Meccano-like nuts that come loose with use. Had it for 20 odd years though.

No, it snapped in half when I did what the manufacturer recommended. I've had to Buy British.
